Hello Dirk! After I had read your letter I thought that it’s
interesting when you are able to know how the person on the other side
of the world lives his life and what he does in the evenings. People
from different countries seem to be totally different but I can say
that we all live pretty much one and the same life. Most of the people
go to work in the mornings (some in the evenings), then they come home
in the evening and have supper, they communicate with friends, argue
or love each other. And Every single adult in the world wants to find
his or her second half (remember I told you that this way we call the
person that we love?). Some people have already found their second
halves and they live happily. When on finds the person that he or she
wants to spend all life with, any problems are easier to solve and
life seems to be easier in general.
When I had my quiet evening drinking hot chocolate and reading a book,
suddenly a thought about you came into my mind. May be it is because the
book by Bunin that I was reading was about love?... who knows… back to
my thought… it was about our friendship.. to be more precise I thought
that being friends with you is great and it’s a pleasure but can it be
something more than friendship between you and me? I’m not sure right
now but I believe that everything is possible.
Also I really want to call you. I understood that I want to do so not
that much time ago I want to hear your voice and I want to see is it
going to be the same talking to you on the phone and writing letters to
you. For me talking in English is harder than writing letters.. When I
write a letter I can look in the dictionary if I don’t remember a
word.. and If I don’t like the sentence that I wrote I can erase it. but
while talking on the phone if I tell something I won’t be able to go
back.. I’m afraid of my mistakes in pronouncing sounds or words and what
if I do silly mistakes and you won’t be able to understand me… this all
bothers me but I still ask you to write me your home and mobile
numbers. I’m not afraid of difficulties and I want to overcome my “fear”
of talking on the phone. By the way I’ll be calling you in the evenings
by Moscow time. I though it would be nice if you can write me you home
address this way one day you might get a real letter or card from your
Russian friend. Would you be glad to get it I wonder? I would be:)
I would like to know more of you than just a friend. You interested me a
lot with your letters and I hope that I did to. Though that wasn’t my
point , my point was just to tell you about myself and to tell you how
you live… and it was very interesting to all those things about you too…
I hope now we are on level of good friends and we can move on or just
continue to be good friends. It’s going to be only ours decision and
nobody else’s.
Tell me how you and your relatives are doing. And say them hello from
me.

How have you been? I’ve been great! You know that I’m trying always to
be optimistic! I had a good day at work : I had several customers and no
troubles with them at all. During my lunch break I called one of my

often worry about her as I think that she works way too much. Imagine

It’s unbelievable but it is so. She want to earn a lot of money and be
rich and independent. Well, as for m e being independent in finance is
good. And I can understand her this way…. But it’s not possible to earn
all money in the world. We should enjoy our life every possible way. I
f we don’t do that there is no point of earning a lot money. And Masha
(that’s the friend), she totally can’t enjoy her life. The only things
she wants are expensive car, fur coats, very nice apartment or her own
house. She doesn’t want just to marry rich man, she wants to achieve all
these herself. She is very smart and I’m sure that one day she’ll have
everything she wants but she will spend all her life just to earn that
not paying attention to very important things. Anyway I love Masha as my
friend and today I’m taken her out to a cafe; to enjoy this evening
talking with her. And to be honest I want to try to persuade her to
stop working that much, to stop for a second and look around, and enjoy
the life that is going on. Also I want to share my good mood with her.
And she is the only one of my friends who doesn’t know that I correspond
with you. My other very good friends know about that and they are glad
that I met a man who it is interesting for me to talk to. They would
love to get to know you if we ever decide to start relationships. I
know that my friends will always support me and be next to me when I
need them.
So there is one question on my mind. May be I’m being too curious but do

do they think about it? This is important for me.. and I’ll be grateful
to you if you understand that. I want to confess that when we started to

is. Before getting to know you after work I went home, called my friends
