I would like Thunderbird to automatically check all IMAP folders for new mail when I start up the program. How can I achieve this?Answer:
Indeed your Mozilla Thunderbird email program can download all mail from all your accounts at application startup. Simply add the statement shown in the box below to your user.js file.Note:
The user.js file is located in the profile directory and allows you to customize settings Thunderbird. If this is your first such customization then your computer will not have a user.js file yet.
On Windows XP, your location would be something like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\peter\Application Data\Thunderbird\[..] [..]Profiles\viskw6k7.default // in a German Windows XP installation: C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\peter\Anwendungsdaten\Thunderbird\[..] [..]Profile\sviskw6k7.default
You can create user.js as a text file with notepad or any other text editor.
